A knurled brass bulb holder on a ceiling rose turned from solid oak, beech or walnut, hung on black twisted fabric flex. Made to order in Britain.
Brass is the one people picture when they picture a pendant over a kitchen island. Under a filament bulb it goes properly golden rather than yellow, and against a white ceiling it is warm without being loud — which is why it is the finish that outsells the other two put together.
On natural oak it is a tonal match: two warm materials agreeing with each other, and the quietest version of this light. On walnut the dark timber pushes the brass forward and the fitting reads as jewellery rather than joinery. Beech sits between them, cooler and paler, and lets the brass be the only warm thing in the frame.
The flex is black twisted fabric on all three, which is what keeps the brass as the thing you notice. Hang one over a worktop, or three in a row down an island at 600mm centres.
