What makes them ours
It starts with the wood.
Most lights sit on a pressed steel plate you’re meant not to look at. Ours start with a disc turned from solid timber — golden oak, pale beech or dark figured walnut — sanded and oiled so the grain carries on doing what grain does.
It’s the part everyone notices last and likes most, and it’s the reason two lights from the same batch are never quite twins.
How they’re made
Three things we won’t cut corners on.
Turned from solid timber
Not veneer, not a painted disc. Every back plate and ceiling rose is turned from solid oak, beech or walnut and finished so the grain still reads — which is why no two are quite the same.
Metal fittings, not plastic
Brass, copper, chrome, black and white, in their own finishes rather than sprayed to match. Pick the parts separately, and mix them if you want to.
Made to order, one at a time
Nothing sits in a warehouse. Your light gets built when you order it, by hand, in Britain — usually ready to ship inside a week.
Better in a room than on a screen.
One beside an armchair, a pair either side of the bed, or a run of them down a hallway. They’re deliberately plain, so they get on with the job rather than competing with the room.
