Polished chrome against turned solid oak, beech or walnut — the cool metal, for rooms with steel or grey already in them.
Chrome is the only cool metal in the range, and that is the entire reason to choose it. Brass and copper both push a room warmer whether or not you asked them to; chrome leaves the temperature where it is and reflects whatever is already in the room.
It is the one that works in a kitchen full of stainless steel, and the one that stops a wooden ceiling rose reading as rustic. Against walnut it is the sharpest contrast in the whole range — cold polished metal on dark close grain — and the version that looks least like a country cottage and most like something out of a workshop.
On beech it goes almost monochrome, pale on pale, and the shape does the work instead of the finish. On oak it is the least expected of the three and the one people ask about.
