Copper Wall Lights

Copper that warms rather than tarnishes, and the one finish that looks better against walnut than it does against oak.

Choosing copper wall lights

Copper is the warmest finish in the range and the one with the most colour in it — pink and orange rather than the yellow of brass. It is a stronger choice, and it rewards being treated as one.

It looks best against walnut. Both are warm, but they are warm in different registers, and the dark grain gives the copper something to sit against instead of blending into. On natural oak the two warmths get closer and the effect is softer. On beech the copper is the loudest thing in the frame, which is either what you wanted or not.

It suits rooms with terracotta, deep green or exposed brick, and it is the finish that reads least like something bought from a chain. A brass holder on a copper arm keeps it warm; chrome cuts across it and makes the copper look more deliberate.
