Every light is made after you order it, so there is a short wait — and then a well-packed box. Here is exactly what that looks like.
Where I deliver
The United Kingdom only, for now. If you are outside the UK and want one, email me at info@urbanlightcompany.co.uk and I’ll work out what it would cost to send.
What it costs
£6.95, flat, however many lights you order. The price is shown again at checkout before you pay, and it is the only charge on top of the price of the light — there are no handling fees or surcharges added later.
How long it takes
Lights are made to order, one at a time. Allow 5 to 7 working days from your order to it arriving. That covers both making it and posting it, and it is the estimate you agree to at checkout.
If something is going to take longer than that — an unusual finish, a supplier holding me up — I will email you before the 7 days are out and tell you where things stand. You are entitled to cancel for a full refund at that point if the new date does not suit you.
By law, if I have not delivered within 30 days of your order and we have not agreed a longer period, you can cancel and be refunded in full.
Who brings it
Royal Mail or a tracked courier, depending on the size of the parcel. Delivery is tracked, and you will get the tracking reference by email as soon as the parcel is collected. Someone will need to be in, or the carrier will leave a card.
How it is packed
The glass and the bulb travel separately from the oak base, boxed and padded. Everything is wrapped in paper and card rather than plastic wherever I can manage it, which occasionally means the box is larger than the light appears to need.
If it arrives damaged
It shouldn’t, but glass is glass. Photograph the damage — including the box, if that is damaged too — and email me at info@urbanlightcompany.co.uk within a few days of it arriving. I will replace it or refund you in full, whichever you would rather, and I will cover the cost of sending the broken one back if I need it returned.
You do not need to have inspected the parcel before signing for it, and signing for it does not sign away your rights.
If it does not arrive at all
The parcel is my responsibility until it is in your hands, not the carrier’s and not yours. If tracking has gone quiet or the delivery date has passed, email me and I will chase it. If it is genuinely lost, you get a replacement or a refund — that is my problem to sort out with the carrier, not yours.
Changing your mind
Separate from all of the above, you have 14 days from delivery to change your mind for no reason at all. That is set out on the returns page.
One last thing
Lights are supplied ready to wire but are not pre-wired to your ceiling rose. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
